If
you're between 6 and 18 years old and
live in or near Tervuren and
have English speaking parents or go to an English section at an
international school then maybe you'd enjoy Scouting with us. You can
contact us to join our waiting list at the address
below.
There are also
opportunities for those over 14 to take part in the
International Award (Duke of Edinburghs Award scheme) with the
Explorer
section or by
working with a unit as part of their service requirement.
Adults aged 18-65 who
enjoy working with children and young people are
also
needed as leaders
and helpers.
We have a large turnover as people come
and go from
Brussels so there are plenty of opportunities.
Perhaps you
enjoyed Scouting or another youth organisation as a young person, if so
this is a great opportunity to continue the experience and help
youngsters enjoy it too. It can be a
great hobby and can range from helping out
for a couple of
hours a week to a lot more if you wish. Obviously the safety and
well being of our members is paramount so screening is carried out for
all adults working with young people, as required by the Scout
Association.
We have had leaders from many nationalities, but please
note that we are an English speaking group so you
will need to speak english very well. Training is
offered to all those becoming uniformed leaders so prior experience
isn't necessary.
Those who cannot commit to training can still be a regular
unit helper or
fellowship member. Please contact us for more details.
Our
meetings
are all on weekday
evenings although there are camps and trainings at weekends from time
to time.
We have a small Scout
fellowship. This is open to
any adult who
has an interest in
scouting and would like to help out in practical ways on camps or
activities when they feel able or take part in social activities..
Parents who aren't able to be leaders but would like to help in a more
adminstrative role can also join the Group
Executive which organises
things like the fundraising, administration and equipment for the whole
group. This involves about 6 executive meetings a year and helping with
other tasks.
